Seven Day Fiancé by Rachel Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Seven Day Fiance was a lot more than I had been expecting. Not that I was expecting it to be bad, I figured it was just going to be similar to other stories I've read of its kind. However, much to my delight, it was much better than I had been hoping for. The story had me captivated from the first chapter and smiling and laughing out loud all the way to the end. This was easily my favorite contemporary romance book of the year.
Angelle Prejean is a fun, quirky, but shy woman who is determined to break out of her shell. After spending her whole life trying to please others, she is ready to focus on herself for a change. The trouble is, in order to do that she must show her overbearing, overprotective, but incredibly loving family that she can be okay out in the big bad world, and in order to do that she needs for them to meet…you guessed it, her incredibly wonderful, ruggedly handsome fiance…who doesn't exist. No problem, right? Enter Cane Robicheaux. Seemingly your typical bad boy, he has a soft side for his wonderfully fabulous sisters and, it seems, Angelle. Shh…don't tell.
What made this story so fabulous was the characters. From Angelle's lively antics to Cane's incredible sexiness to the Robicheaux girls' shameless matchmaking, each one brought a unique personality to the story. The banter was sweet, sexy, and fun, and the chemistry between Angele and Cane was…intense. There is no other word for it.
I fell in love with the author's easy writing style and loved how she was able to throw in so much of the southern culture and charisma into the story. While I had not read book one in this series before I read this one, I had absolutely no trouble following along without feeling like I was missing part of the story. However, after looking it up and realizing book one was the story of Colby and Jason, I had to purchase it and am planning on reading it next. I am very much hoping book three will be Sherry's book.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
