“This isn't a romance. You're not a damsel in distress and I'm not the handsome prince come to save you.”

Title: Captive in the Dark
Series: The Dark Duet #1
Author: C.J. Roberts
Dark Romance/Adult
ebook, 276 pages
Published
July 20th 2011ebook, 276 pages
Caleb is a man with a
singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into
slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but
vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of
pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately
responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a
new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to
strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful
girl to train her to be all that he once was.
Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.
WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

My Thoughts
This is not your typical love story. Caleb should be one of the last people Livvie thought of as her hero, but sometimes, you can't help who you fall in love with.

Ooh I like it! Life isn't a fairy tale, so I think that quote is really true and honest. Though the blurb of the book is a bit disturbing lol
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely not for everyone! There are things in the story that will put off some people.
DeleteI actually liked this series, but I've only read it once and I won't ever read it again. It sort of it my "hard limit" on what I can handle in a book. :) Thanks for sharing.

Whitney@Shooting Stars Reviews
Thanks for stopping by Whitney! I've read other "dark" books, but this was my favorite.
DeleteWow, so I just finished reading Fifty Shades of Grey for the first time... I do not know if I am "ready" to read this book! But I did like the quote... reminded me a bit of Christian Grey....Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI could see where the similarities would come in because of the quote, but they are really nothing alike. Christian is all power and sexuality where Caleb is all about revenge. He is really not a nice guy, and he doesn't pretend to be.
DeleteEeeep! I am not sure about his book then. haha
