Realms of Shadow by Barry James

Realms of ShadowRealms of Shadow by Barry James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book two in the Mondragoran Chronicles was just as adventuresome and captivating as the first. In Dreams of Darkness (book one), the author created a unique world where humans and monsters played. The storyline was unique and written well, and the characters were engrossing. He was able to continue this with consistency into book 2 and bring the story to a whole new level of excellence.

After averting Armageddon, Jordan Hanson thought life would get easier, but in fact it was just the opposite.

Once again Jordan is a magnificent lead. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders and does everything he can to keep humanity ignorant of and safe from his own frightening reality. There is definite character development (not just in Jordan!) throughout this book/series, with likeable characters that you love to get to know.

My favorite thing about this book/series is the way the author is able to bring his story to life through his descriptiveness. The imagery is vivid and detailed, making it easy to picture what is happening as you are reading. The world he has created is original and interesting, full of dark, frightening things able to make any fan of horror or dark fiction happy. Once again, I was captivated by this story and am eager to see where the author will take it.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
