"You keep bothering the monsters, Mercy, and someday
something's going to eat you." He sounded calm and cool as he kept his
eyes on the fence I'd jumped over. He had a big automatic in one hand - he must
carry concealed because I hadn't noticed him holding one when he opened the
door.
"Oh, I hope not," I said between gasps. "I don't want to be
eaten. I've been counting on the vampires to kill me first."

I could smell her
fear, and it satisfied something deep inside me that had been writhing
under her cool, superior gaze. I curled my upper lip so she could get a

Mechanic Mercy Thompson can shift her shape - but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.

My Thoughts
Once again, one of my favorite series. This is one of my favorite scenes in this book. Mercy is great at getting into trouble without even trying.

I've only read the first book in the series and I enjoyed it. I really should go back to it and continue the series.

I like to read books where the heroine has a nontraditional occupation -- like a mechanic. I'm intrigued by Mercy's shape-shifting ability too! Sounds like a good book.
ReplyDeleteMy Teaser is from THE FRIENDSHIP STAR QUILT.
