Joe by H.D. Gordon

JoeJoe by H.D. Gordon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Joe is a college student with an unusual gift. She realizes she can't save the world, even with some foresight and knowing what is coming, but she knows she has to try. As the main character, Joe is not what you might expect. She has this strange gift, but she is not a superhero, and she is not out to make a name for herself.

The storyline was well written, and there was a great buildup of tension throughout the story. As the drama unfolded and little pieces of the story fell into place, I was left trying to read faster to find out what was going to happen! The author did an excellent job fleshing out each of her characters. The story is told from multiple viewpoints, and each of those characters was made into a unique individual. Each person shared their part of the story and helped to make it complete. The book itself is well written, and the writing is natural and flowing.

Joe is an engaging story, and I hated to see it come to an end…but what an end it was! But, of course, already having read H.D. Gordon's Alexa Montgomery series, I expected nothing less.

One Less Warlock by Judith Post

One Less Warlock by Judith Post My rating: 4 of 5 stars I think it's hard in a short story to create a unique setting, characters, etc., and still get some sort of story line in. In One Less Warlock, Judith did an excellent job of molding the story in such a way that we got a taste of a distinct world and character personalities, and a complete story to go with it. In this short story Judith was able to pack in witches, vampires, a sexy Were, succubus, voodoo, murder, and mystery, all in only about 20 pages. Pretty amazing. I enjoyed the story and Babet, the main character, and am looking forward to more of her in the future. View all my reviews
