Q & A with A.M. Hudson

Q:  Tell us a little bit about your main characters.
Elora and Ali are best friends. They do everything together: work together, share an apartment, and spend days on the beach together. And when Elora discovers that she might be a vampire, who do you think puts her hand up to offer Elora blood? Ali, of course. They are the best of friends. They even share a Goodreads TBR list.

Then there’s Ric: Hot. Bad. Carefree. He plays guitar, rides a motorcycle and kills humans for sustenance. He’s also arrogant and funny but in a rather endearing way.

Q:  Describe your ideal writing spot.
My bed. With my door closed. I don’t need any special place to write. I’ve set up amazing writing corners and I have a charming study filled with books and all kinds of cool stuff, but I always abandon it for my bed. With my door closed.

Q:  Who designed the covers for your book and what was that process like for you as the author?

I did. I had to learn pretty fast how to use Photoshop. Back when I first stared publishing, there weren’t many cover design services out there, so it was a choice of either doing it myself or paying near on a thousand dollars for it. But once I knew how to use Photoshop, I never looked back. Now, there’s no way I’d let anyone else design my covers.

Q:  What is the best advice you have been given?
The only people that fail are the ones that give up when it gets hard.

Q:  How do you keep busy when you're not writing?
I have 4 kids. And a husband that works two jobs. I’m so busy I have to pay money to stare at a wall for five minutes to get some peace. Ha ha ha ha.

Q:  If you could have any superhuman ability, what would you choose and why?
To erase certain emotions from people. If I saw an angry man on the street hit his kid, and I could take away the anger, it would change that child’s life. If I saw a person being hateful and spiteful to someone, maybe bullying them, and I could erase the spite, that victim’s year would get better.

Q:  Which do you prefer: hard/paperbacks or ebooks?
Paperbacks!

Q:  What book are you reading now?
I have several going at the moment. I usually read two chapters of a book and never get time to finish, so at the moment I’m reading from authors Skye Turner and Colleen Hoover. A few of their books at the same time.
