Shattered Veil by Tracy E. Banghart

Shattered Veil (The Diatous Wars #1)Shattered Veil by Tracy E. Banghart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am torn on my rating of Shattered Veil. After a slow start that made it easy for me to put down, I am so glad that I kept reading, because it was so worth the read.

This quote, "When everything that defines you is stripped away, who do you become?" sums up what this story is about. Aris thought she and Calix would be promised and live happily ever after, but the war had other plans. Calix was selected for the Military. Calix was her life, her strength and her protector. What will Aris do now that he is gone? Flying is the only thing she has left. A stranger makes Aris an offer to join a secret army of women to serve in the war. This could be her chance to be with Calix and to do what she loves, flying. Will Aris be able to leave her family and friends for this secret mission? Does she have what it takes to be part of the military?

The author did an amazing job developing each character and conveying the struggles of the soldiers in a war zone and their families left behind. Aris started out as a weak girl always protected by family and friends. Her choice to serve and the determination to make a difference shows the growth in her character, but it was not without hard work and sacrifice. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to the next installment.

Tracy E. Banghart is a cheesy movie–loving, fantasy football–playing (go Ravens!), globe-trotting Army wife who began “practicing” her craft at the age of five, when she wrote her first story. She loves visiting the international friends she met while pursuing her MA in Publishing and spends a portion of every summer at her family’s cabin in Canada, where she finds inspiration and lots of time to relax on the dock. She lives with her husband, son, two lazy dogs and one ornery cat. When not writing or spending time with her family, she is on a mission to bake the perfect cupcake.

Author Interview with Michael Cargill

Today we have author Michael Cargill on our blog! Not only did Michael do an interview for us, he was awesome enough to give us 10 copies of his newest book, just released last week, to give away! See below for details. Look at the person sitting just across from you. It doesn’t matter whether they’re a loved one, a friend, or a complete stranger. Now look at their face. Are they happy? Are they sad? Or are they angry? Can you even tell? How well do you actually know the people closest to you? Have you ever seen the real person that lies just underneath what you see…? Amazon.com Widgets Thanks Michael for the interview and the giveaway! When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
