He’s a reaper who has given up on saving souls. Will a dying woman be his salvation?

After a century of enslavement to pure evil, Kylen Larson is finally free. But he’s long past caring. The only woman he ever loved is dead, and he’s tormented by memories of the horrors his demon parasite forced him to commit. Now, he lives for nothing more than hunting down the infernal creatures invading Meridian, Arkansas, and destroying them.

Olivia Evans is in the final stages of cancer when Kylen accidentally saves her from demonic possession. When he rescues this innocent soul, Kylen rediscovers his mission—and his heart.

All he wants is to help Olivia stay alive. He’ll just have to fight off an invasion from Hell first…

Lisa Medley writes reapers. The grim kind. A lover of beasties of all sorts, she has a farm full of them in her SW MO home including: one child, one husband, two dogs, two cats, a dozen hens, thousands of Italian bees and a guinea pig. Not so in love with the guinea pig. She can do ten pushups IN A ROW and may or may not have a complete zombie apocalypse bug-out bag in her trunk at all times. Just. In. Case.

Q & A with Author Lisa Medley
Tell us a little bit about your main characters.
Kylen is a burned out reaper who’s spent the last hundred years possessed by a demon. Recently freed from the possession, he’s single-minded about destroying a surge of demon activity before cashing in his chips. He’s done. With reaping and with living. To say he has issues is an understatement. When he saves a woman from an attempted demon possession only to learn she’s dying anyway, he’s faced with the one thing that may keep him alive…saving her life.

Describe your ideal writing spot.
I am fortunate to have a fantastic writing cave upstairs away from the fray. The room started out as a craft room, but I stuffed a closet full of the craft supplies and carved out my space. I love getting up there. When I walk in, I know I get to play in the fictional worlds I create where characters do my bidding. I love opening the window and listening to the nights sounds as I write.

What is the best advice you have been given?
Keep writing. Finish what you start. Keep writing. Starting is easy. Finishing is the difference between being a writer and being an author. When you finally write THE END on that masterpiece, you’ll feel like the secret superhero you are. Then do it again.

How do you keep busy when you're not writing?
I have a husband, a ten-year –old daughter, a hobby farm, pets and a full-time day job so there’s never a lack of busy time. For fun we like to kayak and camp together. Of course, reading is my first love and I am NEVER without a book whether on my iPhone, Kindle or paperback.

If you could have any superhuman ability, what would you choose and why?
Looking over my TBR bookshelf, I’d like to have a photographic mind or maybe a super speed-reading/comprehension ability. There are so many books I’d like to read. I’ll never get to them all!

Which do you prefer: hard/paperbacks or ebooks?
I was hesitant to move to ebooks at first. I was a late adopter, but now I LOVE ebooks. They are so portable and offer immediate gratification. When I finish a book late at night, with a few clicks, I can have the next in the series, which makes me ridiculously happy.

What book are you reading now?
I’m reading The Strain Trilogy. Not romance on any level but oh so good! These vampires do NOT sparkle. They are old-school Romanian vamps. There is a television series on now on FX and it’s written by the authors of the books, Chuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro. The book promo says “Bram Stoker Meets Stephen King Meets Michael Crichton” and that description is right on!
