Pale Moon Walking by Paula Altenburg: Giveaway + Interview

Pale Moon Walking
by Paula Altenburg

Genre: Paranormal Western
Publisher: Entangled

US Marshall Sam Kyote has been sent to the dry old town of Coyote Bluff to recuperate from a top-secret government experiment that's left this law man a little...well, different. But Sam's about to find out that the town of Coyote Bluff has a whole lot of secrets. Most of which lead to Libby Mayden—the sexy, long-legged, and tight-lipped sheriff who saved his ass from an alien ambush.

The last thing Libby needs is a US Marshall poking around her town, especially one who's hotter than the Nevada desert sun. She can't let Sam find out most of her town are wanted outlaws. Between the aliens, the gunfighters, and a searing sexual attraction to Sam, she's in a whole heap of trouble. And Libby'll stride both sides of the law—and Sam—until she's forced to choose between self-preservation...and her heart.

Q & A with Paula Altenburg

1. Tell us a little bit about your main characters.
Libby Mayden and Sam Kyote… Libby is a retired gunfighter-turned-sheriff and the daughter of one of the most notorious outlaws in the West. She’s calm, cool and collected—except when it comes to Sam. Sam is a US federal marshal who, after an alien blood transfusion, now has the ability to make people see illusions. Sam’s fun-loving. And he loves Libby.

2. If you could have any superhuman ability, what would you choose and why?
You know, I always thought I’d want to be able to fly. Then I realized it would be cold and I don’t like being cold. I’ve also always wanted to be good with numbers. Does the Human Calculator sound at all impressive?

3. Which do you prefer: hard/paperbacks or ebooks?
No preference. I read them both, but for different purposes. If it’s a reference book, or looks at all like a textbook, then I have to have it in a physical copy, preferable hardcover. It’s like a sickness. My husband wants to know why I can’t have a thing for purses or shoes like other women. They’d be cheaper. And if it’s a favorite author, I’d want a paperback copy because I like to reread. Ebooks are how I discover new authors. If it’s a story I’ll read again, or I’d like to share with a friend, then I’ll invest in a physical copy. Books are meant to be read and enjoyed. I try not to get hung up on the delivery system.

4. What book are you reading now?
I just finished the sixth book in Monique Martin’s Out of Time series, Sands of Time. They’re ebooks that I discovered through BookBub, and this series really grows on you. I have to admit, I wasn’t entirely loving the first book until almost the end, but Elizabeth West and Simon Cross are such a great couple they won me over. Plus, I love the historical settings in each story. The research is good. So is the pacing. I also like the mixing of genres. There’s time travel, mystery, a little paranormal thrown in…not to mention the romance. I recommend them.

One Less Warlock by Judith Post

One Less Warlock by Judith Post My rating: 4 of 5 stars I think it's hard in a short story to create a unique setting, characters, etc., and still get some sort of story line in. In One Less Warlock, Judith did an excellent job of molding the story in such a way that we got a taste of a distinct world and character personalities, and a complete story to go with it. In this short story Judith was able to pack in witches, vampires, a sexy Were, succubus, voodoo, murder, and mystery, all in only about 20 pages. Pretty amazing. I enjoyed the story and Babet, the main character, and am looking forward to more of her in the future. View all my reviews
