Q & A with Ryanne Hawk

1. Describe your ideal writing spot.
I’d love to write on the beach, but the glare makes it difficult on the best of days. I usually write at my little desk in my bedroom, or while sitting on my bed looking out the window.

2. Who designed the covers for your book and what was that process like for you as the author?

Well, I did the covers and the process is like pulling teeth with no Novocain. Trying to fit the genre, find images that mesh well together, and then tying it all together with the perfect font was… time consuming. I went to school for (interior design) and I enjoy the creative element of making book covers. I make them for friends as well.

3. What is the best advice you have been given?
If you really want to make it as a writer – don’t give up. If your passion and dream lie in writing, then don’t let anyone stop you from making your dream come true.

4. How do you keep busy when you're not writing?
I have four kids aged 5,7, 9, and 11. So…yeah. We’re a pretty active family and we’re always doing some physical activity or traveling. I enjoy yoga (though lately I’ve been rather lax in my practice)

5. If you could have any superhuman ability, what would you choose and why?
I would like to fly. Being able to see the world below while feeling the wind rush over my body would be incredible. Plus, the added bonus of getting to places much quicker would rock.

One Less Warlock by Judith Post

One Less Warlock by Judith Post My rating: 4 of 5 stars I think it's hard in a short story to create a unique setting, characters, etc., and still get some sort of story line in. In One Less Warlock, Judith did an excellent job of molding the story in such a way that we got a taste of a distinct world and character personalities, and a complete story to go with it. In this short story Judith was able to pack in witches, vampires, a sexy Were, succubus, voodoo, murder, and mystery, all in only about 20 pages. Pretty amazing. I enjoyed the story and Babet, the main character, and am looking forward to more of her in the future. View all my reviews
