Ursa Unearthed by J.L. Madore: Interview + Giveaway

Ursa Unearthed (Scourge Survivor Series #2)
by J.L. Madore

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Number of pages: 340
Cover Artist: David Wysotski

Mika’s life has never been normal, but it’s hers.

After being told by the Great Spirit to stand up for the Earth Mother’s children and “save the great species from extinction,” she buries herself in an investigative journalism career hunting down poachers and exposing illegal trade in wildlife exotics. A survivor by nature, she would rather fight injustice than maneuver the hassles and heartache of relationships anyway.

When danger suddenly finds her unprepared, Mika’s perception of her life is shattered and she is hurled into a realm of magic and murder she does not understand. Seduced by Bruin, the powerful and sexy warrior who saves her life, Mika is catapulted into a world where Were-creatures and Scourge assassins threaten not only her life but her heart as well.

With the boundary between worlds crumbling, Mika realizes that her destiny to save the great species will draw her deeper into a reality more terrifying to her than anything she has faced before.

Trusting in love.

J.L. Madore, lover of family, animals and chocolate has a soft spot for romance and a hot button for sexy stories. She didn't find writing so much as it found her. Waking each morning with a vivid cast of characters tangled in chaos in her head, it seemed essential to capture them on the page.

Q & A with Author J.L. Madore

Tell us a little bit about your main characters.

Mika is an independent First Nations woman raised by her grandfather. After seeing the dysfunctional love/obligation between her parents and how they ended up, she has decided to boycott the whole love thing altogether.

We met Bruin in book one as the adopted brother of "Blaze". He is the Were Bear King and loves deeply and without reservation despite the tragedy of his own childhood. When he stumbles upon Mika and realizes what they could be together, he is determined to win her love.

Describe your ideal writing spot.
On my bed with all the pillows propped up behind me. I set my laptop on my stomach and lean the screen against my bent knees.

Who designed the covers for your book and what was that process like for you as the author?

David Wysotski is my artist. He's a local talent and a friend. I love that process. We collaborate a little, I send him a few internet pictures of how I see my characters and include some snippets of scenes. He transforms that into a rough sketch and then into a working drawing.

What is the best advice you have been given?

AIS – Ass In Seat. If you're not there, you're not writing.

How do you keep busy when you're not writing?

Kids, family, house, pets, friends….the usual stuff.

If you could have any superhuman ability, what would you choose and why?

Oddly, this comes up a lot around our house and my answer always differs. I think today it would be telekinesis…or maybe flight…or shifting forms (that would be so cool)

Which do you prefer: hard/paperbacks or ebooks?

Paperbacks

What book are you reading now?

Molly O'Keefe's 'Between the Sheets'. I booked her as a guest speaker for the writing organization I'm VP of and I'm getting ready for her talk. She's an awesome lady and a talented romance novelist.

One Less Warlock by Judith Post

One Less Warlock by Judith Post My rating: 4 of 5 stars I think it's hard in a short story to create a unique setting, characters, etc., and still get some sort of story line in. In One Less Warlock, Judith did an excellent job of molding the story in such a way that we got a taste of a distinct world and character personalities, and a complete story to go with it. In this short story Judith was able to pack in witches, vampires, a sexy Were, succubus, voodoo, murder, and mystery, all in only about 20 pages. Pretty amazing. I enjoyed the story and Babet, the main character, and am looking forward to more of her in the future. View all my reviews
