The funny thing about facing imminent death is that it really snaps everything else into perspective.  Take right now, for instance. 
Run!  Come on, run!  You know you can do it.
I gulped deep lungfuls of air.  My brain was on hyperdrive; I was racing for my life.  My one goal was to escape.  Nothing else mattered.

My Thoughts
This is a great beginning to what has turned out to be an interesting story.  I've enjoyed James Patterson's other books, and started reading this at the recommendation of my 14-year-old son.  It's one of his favorite series.

    My daughter loved this book. I think she read all of them in a weekend. I've always meant to read them as well but just haven't. The excerpts are great! I'll have to go borrow her copy! Thanks for sharing!

    How great that your 14-year-old son enjoys reading! It's great that you're encouraging him by trying books he has recommended.
    I like the premise of this book and may give it a try myself.
