A Creature of Moonlight is an enchanting fairy tale full of fanciful creatures, interesting characters, and a most alluring narrative.

Marni, who is half human, half dragon, lives with her crippled grandfather in a small hut on the outskirts of town. There, they scrape by on what they can raise and the flowers Marni grows to sell. It is a far cry from the life her grandfather once knew as the king. Marni doesn't trust the villagers or the royals who come by to speak to her grandfather. She hears them whispering fearfully about her, the woods which are steadily taking over the town, and the past. Is Marni to blame for the woods and the creatures it harbors? Marni will discover more about her past, the people whose choices have shaped her life, who she is, and what she wants most from life.

Marni is a strong character who has been dealt a hard hand in life. She struggles to find out who she is, but is unwilling to allow others to direct her life. This is a haunting tale that is like whispers on the wind compelling you to read, to learn more about the characters, and the secrets hidden within. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I do question whether some young readers will find it as captivating. Despite that I would still definitely recommend it.

One Less Warlock by Judith Post My rating: 4 of 5 stars I think it's hard in a short story to create a unique setting, characters, etc., and still get some sort of story line in. In One Less Warlock, Judith did an excellent job of molding the story in such a way that we got a taste of a distinct world and character personalities, and a complete story to go with it. In this short story Judith was able to pack in witches, vampires, a sexy Were, succubus, voodoo, murder, and mystery, all in only about 20 pages. Pretty amazing. I enjoyed the story and Babet, the main character, and am looking forward to more of her in the future. View all my reviews
